I think you should try another exercise. Paint a Red cube with white stripes on grass in the following lighting scenarios. (without looking at reference or the sheep paintings you did a while ago.
1. sunny 2. overcast 3. night with a few fireflies around it 4. rainy night (light coming from street light off frame)
