Gary Soto Kitchen pt.5

These are the final two paintings for this assignment which was to paint 2 of the same scene with different lighting scenarios.

I learned so much going through the whole illustration process; something that I've neglected in my personal work. And it was a lot of fun. From initial loose exploration sketches, orthographic views, to final layout and color. I'm excited to take what I've learned and move on to the next assignment.

Gary Soto Kitchen Pt. 1

Here are the beginning stages of the first Vis Dev project of the semester; designing a kitchen! I first sketched and designed the isometric view on the left, then I modeled the kitchen using Google sketchup and used that model to created about 25 thumbnails. I included my favorite 5

And also some reference/inspiration

Palo Alto figure painting

Tried out digital this time.

Feeling inspired by Richard Schmid's technique, Bret 2d Bean's shape language, and Junya Watanabe's fashion... This is what happens.

Getting used to my laptop since school is starting soon. Also playing around with Shaddy's brushes as well as the mixer brush tool in PS. trying to give it a more painterly feel

A piece I did for a student project!

Vasona Lake Park Pt 2

Went painting in Los Gatos again with some school buddies. This is a much smaller painting then usual (~2x4") I think I prefer painting in this size. It allows me to paint faster without worrying to much about details while still learning about light and color.

Palo Alto Art Center Portrait Painting

Went to another figure painting session in Palo Alto. 3 hours was not quite enough time to get everything I wanted done but I had fun playing with colors and meeting all sorts of artists from everywhere.
