#214 quiet mornings

Schools started, which means I've been waking up early enough to see the sun cast this kind of light. I tried to capture it, although the experience is a bit different through stop and go traffic.

Japanese Friendship Garden.... Progress!

Visited the Japanese Friendship Garden with Andy again.

Ive been painting my butt off this summer, trying to learn watercolor and I'm glad to say I've made some progress. The first painting was done this afternoon and the 2nd painting was done 3 months ago.

watercolor, gouache and a little photoshop to pump the highlights. White paint just isnt the same as preserving the white of the paper...which I should have done.

Chickens at Emma Prusch Farm!

I visited a farm/park today with Ben and Andy.

There were a bunch of hens and roosters wandering around just feet away from where we were sketching so it was a great opportunity to learn about these beautiful birds. The roosters especially have just about every color in their feathers. There's so much to see there, I'll definitely be back.

By the way, they don't just do their rooster wake up call in the morning... they do it all. the. time.

#202 Dusan Djukaric Study

Watercolor study from Dusan Djukaric. I just found his work and had to do a study.

#201 Tablet painting

I recently bought a Nexus 7 tablet. Here's my first attempt at a tablet painting using the sketchbook pro app and my fingers.

It was pretty challenging to not have shortcuts and pressure sensitivity. Still fun though. I'll try some digital pleinairs in the future.
