Evergreen Valley College

I put a lot more care into creating a solid composition this time, both in shape and value. Ive read and heard from many people how important it is to have a hierarchy in values that clearly distinguish the major masses in the scene.

I approached this painting with design in mind. I moved around objects and discarded others. Whatever made the image read clearer.

Character Driven #1 Colossal Vivacious Nomad

So I found this really cool website called Character Driven. Its a site where you design characters using thier random character generator.

I feel like I have a comfort zone which I don't venture out of enough so I want to do as many of these as possible.

The first character the site generated was a: Colossal Vivacious Nomad. And I came up with this.
It's definately something I would never come up with and I had a blast doing it. Also learned a ton about horses!

B for Butcher

fun stuff for my 2nd blog

I'm liking the middle one I think.

light and Color Practice

I need to work on color and light so I gave my self an asignment:

wooden stick, red brick, chrome disk, sunlight, outdoor.

I tried to think this out as logically as possible starting with the main masses and adding shadow, key, bounce, reflectivity, etc 1 at a time.

 Here's my result. No reference.

Egyptian Museum pt2

Egyptian Museum Garden round 2

Everything behind the sphinx was in shadow, but the strong summer sun created such harsh reflected light that areas in the background almost looked sun lit. I remembered from John's class that It's important to keep shadows separate from lights. A quick cool blueish wash over the entire background helped.
