Figure painting

Managed to get some figure painting in this week. I cringe when I look at this but my blog needs some love. and props to the model for holding this pose for 3 hours! Though I only painted for 2.

Figures from Monday

Some times I get a string of drawings that can almost be a pose to pose dance. this usually happens during 1 and 2 minute poses. A great model like Christina helps too! I think these were 1 minute poses.

Pokemon Gallery!

This painting is for a Pokemon gallery fundraiser at school featuring the original 151 Pokemon! I was randomly assigned Poliwhirl :)

Anyway, with school starting back up I've been already drowning in homework but with this painting done I'm going to try my best to continue doing daily paintings >_< ' I see this easily being my busiest semester yet so we will see how that goes . . .

I found an amazing artist while watching the credits of uncharted 2 after beating it yesterday :) His name is Shaddy Safadi. I picked up his brush set that he shares on his site and painted this for today's speedy. Check his site out, its amazing. http://www.shaddyconceptart.com/

I think I kind of hit a milestone today. I'm quite happy with this painting. It needs a focal point though

And here's the lines since they took longer then the painting.

After watching this video by John Park, I tried his method of creating mechs from thumbnail to paint. It's a really fun process that literally begins with a square on paper.

The final painting

And some thumbnails

And the video. Check it out!

Goro gave me a great crit of my Noface and Chihiro painting as well as a paint over. I really love everything he did to the piece, even taking out the whole tree for compositional and silhouette / readability reasons.

I'm happy with the progress I'm making. Slow but steady sure enough. The more I learn the more I know I don't know. Here's to learning from mistakes :D Thank you Goro!
